If you love to gamble and are looking for a new casino game, you may want to check out OMG! Fortune Slots. It’s a new take on some older, more classic casino games like slots, scratch cards, BINGO, and Wheel of Fortune. With over 25 levels, let’s take a look to see if this game can become your new favorite pastime.

Interface

omg 2

OMG! Fortune Free Slots is incredibly bright and colorful. It’s filled with tons of animations that will keep you interested while you play. As much as we like the general interface of the app, we would change one thing about the app… how often it asks for real money. Every few minutes you’ll most likely be prompted with a change to invest in more coins. With daily deals and coin packages, the app is constantly reminding you that you have a change to buy more. It took away from the experience a tad, but nonetheless, the game relatively easy to navigate and move around.

Gameplay

OMG 1

You begin the game by entering the Lobby, where you can see all of your unlocked games. To begin, only one is available to you. If you work decently hard. the first few levels are a breeze. Around levels 6-7 is where we began having a bit of trouble completing the rounds on the first try. The aim of the game, obviously, is to rack up as much money as possible, all while completing daily, weekly, and monthly challenges. Also, with more than 25 unique levels to choose from, you won’t get bored very easily.

Each level has a bright and colorful theme that puts a fun twist on the classics – whimsical birds, Zodiac, city life, and more. As if the number of different games weren’t enough, they’ve also added a slew of mini games to be completed in between rounds.

What we like:

  • More than enough levels to keep you interested
  • Mini games add to the experience
  • Fun animations make the app great to view/navigate

What we would change:

  • Less-frequent reminders to buy coins with real money would make the experience much better

Would I recommend this app?

If you love casino games, you’ll love this game, plain and simple. The fun animations make it one-of-a-kind, and for a free app, it makes the experience way better. Hit the download link below to start playing OMG! Fortune FREE Slots.

Spotify ‘shuffle’ goes free

Published by at 12:10 UTC, August 26th 2014

Spotify has finally brought its free music streaming option, available on Android and iOS since late 2013, to Windows Phone. This free feature set allows users to ‘Play any artist, album, or playlist on shuffle mode’. See below for some screenshots and comments.

From the Store description after today’s v4.0 update:

Listen for free.
• Play any artist, album, or playlist on shuffle mode.

Spotify Premium features.
• Play any song, any time on any device.
• Download music for offline listening.
• Enjoy amazing sound quality.
• No ads – just uninterrupted music.
• No commitment – cancel any time you like.

So, obviously, $ 10/£10 a month premium users get the full Spotify all-you-can-eat streaming, but it’s good to see Spotify match up to the likes of Windows Phone’s Nokia MixRadio with a free option too. From the official promo changelog for free subscription users:

  • All of the music. Listen to all the playlists you’ve created and playlists from the people you follow. Spotify lets you discover new music, save, shuffle and share.
  • Your favourite artists. Want to listen to a certain artist? Just hit shuffle play, sit back and listen to their entire catalogue. Don’t settle for something similar. Don’t settle for just one track from the artist you want to hear every 20 minutes.
  • Want the right playlist? Just Browse. Going for a jog or to the gym? We’ve got the playlist to help you go the extra mile. Hosting a dinner or getting ready for a big night out? We’ve got you covered. We even have playlists for different moods, so regardless of whether you need an upbeat boost or something more relaxing to wind down to – we’ve got just the thing.

Here’s the new Spotify v4.0 in action:

An opening set of video intro screens is quite beautiful – signing up is as easy (if you want to just get started quickly) as using your Facebook login details; (right) and then we’re into pre-compiled shuffle playlists for free, with no commitment…

As with MixRadio, there are loads of precompiled playlists, something for everyone – each genre listed here has multiple themed playlists within it….

Spotify screenshotSpotify screenshot

Within a playlist (which can be ‘followed’ so that you see when this gets updated), some of the best known tracks are listed if you scroll down. While playing, you can skip half a dozen times per hour, to get past tracks you really don’t like.

As with Spotify’s in-house ‘Radio’ streaming service, you do have to put up with ten second audio ads (usually urging you to upgrade) every few songs – but this is part of the trade off for what is effectively totally free music access.

Given that this is now free, everyone can try Spotify for themselves, so I’ll stop here – have a play and then give your verdict in the comments below. You can grab Spotify for Windows Phone here in the Store.

How do you think it compares to other streaming services like Mixradio, which has similar restrictions and capabilities but with no adverts?

PS. My family swears by the full premium Spotify experience, by the way – any track, any time. As long as you’ve got a connection. Me? I have to confess that 90% of my music is from locally stored WMA and MP3 and AAC files, ripped from CD or bought DRM-free online. So I’m old school but also independent of any connection issues or costs. Plus – ahem – at least a third of my music collection is so old or so niche that it’s not IN Spotify’s databases!

All About Windows Phone

Spotify finally goes free for Windows Phone

Spotify has proven that even though music streaming wasn’t popular a couple of years ago, it is now. The company has gained a significant amount of customer base in Europe, and it is clearly just getting started. Offering free ad-based music on smartphones is probably one of the coolest updates the company has offered lately, but Windows Phone users were deprived of this feature until now.

Spotify has just updated its application for Windows Phone, and among the updates, you can now stream music for free. Yes, free involves a couple of ads here and there, you won’t be able to sync your playlists, and you will have to shuffle the songs, but even with those quirks, the service is still free. You also have the option to upgrade to Spotify’s premium service in order to not put up with these annoyances at any time.

This update should reach the Windows Phone Store in the next couple of hours, so keep your eyes open, and let us know how it works for you.

Motorola courts Moto X holdouts with free wooden back

We’re probably little more than two weeks away from Motorola’s announcement of its Moto X follow-up, the phone we’ve been looking forward to as the X+1. And while that will mean new hardware, new features, and likely some new Moto Maker options, for the moment the year-old Moto X remains the star of the manufacturer’s lineup. Even with the next big thing so very nearly within reach, Motorola is still hoping to churn-up some last-minute interest in the Moto X, and its latest offer to land hopes to hook buyers up with a free wooden backplate.

It took a few months for wood backs to become available, but last December we saw Motorola start giving shoppers the ability to customize their Moto X handsets with a bamboo back panel, for a steep $ 100 premium over the regular Moto X. By January, three new wood options had arrived, and the price for each had taken a nose-dive down to just $ 25. From now through Thursday, August 21, Motorola is letting you create a Moto X with a wooden back for the same price as its plastic options.

This is far from the first deal we’ve seen Motorola run on the Moto X, and it feels like this summer has been sale after sale. Honestly, this isn’t even one of the best Moto X offers we’ve seen (just last month there were bigger savings), but the pushing of the wood back options is still interesting here; maybe Motorola fears ending up with too much leftover stock as interest dies out in the wake of the X+1 launch?

Anyone inclined to take Motorola up on this offer?

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) has a new app for pet owners. It’s particularly useful for when the worst might happen – if you have a missing pet or if you’re in a natural disaster. The app will guide you through the information in case of emergencies, and it will also help you generate missing pet posters to get the word out on all of your social networks.
